Officials of the South African Revenue Service (SARS) have caught a man at the Cape Town International Airport with almost R2-million hidden in his luggage.
The dollar notes were confiscated from the passenger who was planning on leaving for Dubai.
Breifly.co.za learned that the officials received a tip off from OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg. The man was confronted by customs officials who used a detector dog to check his luggage according to iol.co.za.
When the dogs gave the signal that they had found something they open the luggage and searched through the contents. They found ten packets of currency hidden in between his clothing.
It is illegal to take large amounts of money out of the country without declaring it. The money was hands over to the South African Police Service (SAPS).
