Meet Themba Gwejela: The Media Studies and Honours graduate who started his own successful business

- Themba Gwejela worked for some of the major SA brands, including FNB

- But, he had a dream bigger than the multi-million-rand project he oversaw for other companies

- So, he started his own company, and today he is the Managing Director of Mahusiano, “a communications business working with corporate and media personalities”

When thinking about #BlackExcellence, Themba Gwejela comes to mind.

HeSouthAfrica, a digital media company that tells African men stories to empower, excite and motivate others, took to social media to share Gwejela’s story.

“Meet Communications and Media Studies and Honours degree in Brand Leadership Graduate @MrGwej. He is a Marketing professional with 13 years exp. He finished his corporate career as Head of Marketing for Premier Banking at @FNBSA then started his own business in 2014”, HeSouthAfrica’s post read.

Briefly.co.za learned Gwejela is passionate about people, which allows him to “constantly engage with people on a variety of topics.”

Gwejela studied towards a BA degree at the University of Port Elizabeth, which is now Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University. He then went on to study towards his honours, specialising in Brand Leadership.

The entrepreneur then wen ton to work for major South African Brands including FNB, Liberty Life, Discovery Vitality, Eskom, Metropolitan and Old Mutual.

During his time at these big shot companies, Gwejela worked on several projects “ranging from small scale to multi-million-rand projects”.

According to the company he now own’s website, “Previous projects include managing the Discovery Credit Card marketing portfolio with its Loyalty Programme, being editor of the Transnet retirement funds newsletters, conceptualizing and managing the Old Mutual Corporate Wisdom Forum thought-leadership events.”

However, the position he held at these companies led him to realise his own dream- to start his own business.

Gwejela is the founder and Managing Director of Mahusiano, “a communications business working with corporate and media personalities”.
