On Monday, President Cyril Ramaphosa landed in KwaZulu-Natal. He is part of a delegation that will be looking into the political killings that have occurred in the province recently.

Speaking outside the house of late Musawenkosi Mchunu, the African National Congress (ANC)’s branch convener, the President stated that he will not allow the political killings to continue in KZN.

Part of the reason the delegation has come to Natal is in an attempt to put an end to the political killings that have been taking place.

Mchunu was the third person to be murdered in an alleged political hit in the last week.

News24 reported earlier in the week that these attacks highlight the ongoing political violence in the region and have been strongly condemned.

President Ramaphosa visited the family of Mchunu on Monday. The councillor was attacked outside his KwaPata‚ Pietermaritzburg home on Friday night. Sibuyiselo Dlamini‚ an IFP councillor in the Zululand district‚ came under fire in the Ulundi area. The attacks happened within 20 minutes of each other.

A day before his death‚ Mchunu called for the elective conference in the Moses Mabhida region to be postponed.

Mchunu’s death comes soon after ANC activist Sifiso Cele was murdered on the south coast in front of his wife and children.

Briefly.co.za believes, the Police Minister has stated he hopes to make an arrest in the next few days.
