Moshe Ndiki received a ton of backlash on Wednesday after he posted photos of himself at a Xhosa Initiation school.
The actor spoke about his time there, and he even remembered the nickname he received.
“Whoaw, The Wound mntakabawo ❤️ They used to call me uMkhwethu Tyra”, he captioned the post.
Although some social media users found the amusing, a lot of tweeps were enraged by it- and they used the platform to express their disapproval.
“It's supposed to be a sacred journey to manhood. But it's being publicized as a trend instead of a pilgrimage.”, @lugmiester commented when a tweep asked why people were angry.
“I think you knew before u posted this ukuba ayiyo le uyenzayo, if you dnt respect isiko dnt expose it, you disrespecting those who value it and take it serious but I guess you want to trend”, another tweep, @AnitaDyasi, wrote.
However, a lot of people felt the haters were overreacting. Ndiki even had a message for those who felt offended.
“To all those that feel offended by This post, here’s a message for you ❤️”, he captioned the first clip.
“So people are seriously complaining about these pictures? We see these kind of pictures in the Daily Dispatch qho ngoJune and no one ever complains about those. Y'all need to relax.”, @AbongileZongola commented.
