- ANC spokesperson Pule Mabe had a terrible time hosting new news programme
- People responded rather harshly on social media
The news channel eNCA decided to try something new: Let politicians try on news anchor hats and host a show on live TV.
The first politician to host this new show As It Happens was Dr MBuyiseni Ndlozi, spokesperson of the EFF.
Briefly.co.za reported earlier that on Monday, Ndlozi once again showed why he is the People's Bae when he co-hosted the As It Happens segment on eNCA, a platform the EFF repeatably slammed.
Dressed in a suit with an EFF cap, Ndlozi reported live from "this white monopoly capitalism platform". And, he was nothing short of excellent.
Tweeps were left in stitches when Ndlozi addressed the white monopoly capitalism of eNCA right of the bat.
The next politician to be seen hosting As It Happens was Pule Mabe, the ANC's spokesperson.
This is what Mabe had to say about his debut on As It Happens, before it happened:
Mabe spoke about issues that he believes to be important, like conflict in Israel and government-related issues of the ANC. He also spoke about fake news and journalism:
Unfortunately, things did not go smoothly for Mabe, and the viewers' response on social media was brutal.
People felt that Mabe's hosting was as well-organised as it should have been.
Some people even thought the show wasn't live:
Poor Mabe did not look like he was having a good time. In fact, he looked uncomfortable and confused at best.
Fortunately not everyone was hating on Mabe:
