- Baby Cele's husband only found out she was moving to Durban after she made the decision
- Despite their time apart, the couple is still happily married
Baby Cele is well-known for her acting in the very popular show Uzalo. Before that we knew and loved her as Katlego Rathebe on the e.tv drama Backstage.
She joined the star-studded cast of Uzalo last year, but was actually approached years ago for a role in the show.
They had approached me about four years ago but I was busy with another project and so I forgot about it. Last year‚ I was approached again and I thought I would really be missing out. I am glad it worked out like that because I might not have been married to my husband now if I had moved to Durban then.
Recently she revealed that she didn't tell her husband about getting the role as soon as she should have.
She was a little wary about the reaction she would get from him.
She was afraid that he would try - and succeed - to convince her to stay. The couple had only been married for 3 months at the time.
Before they got hitched, the two of them were in an on-and-off relationship for five years but did not live together before they decided to tie the knot.
Unfortunately I had to leave three months after the wedding. I didn't know if I should tell him. I thought if I discuss it with him‚ chances are he will change my mind. So‚ I signed the contract and only told him three days later. I didn't have the guts.
Of course her husband was very upset, but in the end she managed to calm him down by reminding him that Durban isn't on a different continent - it's not that far.
He did not take it well but after a few hours he got over it. I told him Durban is down the road and he can come anytime. He can wake up without me and be with me by the afternoon.
Since getting married, Cele has been smiling non-stop and feels that getting married was a great decision. She says that even if they're not together all the time, they're still deeply in love and happy.
Married life is so beautiful. It is the best thing. We work very well as a team and I am glad that it has worked out like this. We waited a while but it was worth the wait.
