Proposing at your girlfriend’s graduation has proven to be the wrong thing to do.
Feminists have voiced their disappointment at a man who proposed to his girlfriend of six years at her graduation ceremony. They say he took her big moment and shone the focus on himself.
The proposal video, taken at Marguell’s graduation day in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, was shared on Twitter by the 23 year old, James Clark.
Briefly.co.za gathered that, due to the fact the viewers thought his partner, Marquell, did not look too happy with the proposal, it quickly shot up to more than 2.6 millions views.
Most of the comments were ridiculing him for choosing the wrong place and time. It was her time to shine!
Comments like these were received:
'Stop proposing to women during celebrations of their accomplishments and dimming their lights'.
'Men never take a day off from being manipulative trash,' another person tweeted.
James was accused of been selfish and others were commenting that he should have waited for the following instead of making it ‘about him’.
In the footage we see James, a graduate of Louisiana State University, asking: 'Can I just say something real quick'. Standing next to James in her cap and gown, holding a bouguet of flower, this all unfolds a few moments after Marquell obtained her degree from Southern University.
'I'm just so proud of my gorgeous, intelligent girlfriend. She put so much work in, long nights of studying, working hard, so it's so beautiful to see you make it to this moment,' he said.
