- President of the United Democratic Movement Bantu Holomisa hosted As It Happens on Thursday and had an awkward moment
- Viewers took to social media to joke about the moment, but Holomisa managed to recover and host the show without too much embarrassment
As It Happens on eNCA seems to be succeeding splendidly in putting politicians in uncomfortable moments on live national television.
The aim of As It Happens is to put members of parliament in the public eye and have them discuss the matters that are important to South Africans.
But the show has gained popularity for the awkward and funny moments that our political members have endured on screen.
The latest "victim" was President of the United Democratic Movement Bantu Holomisa, who hosted the show on Thursday evening.
Holomisa had some pretty tough acts to follow.
A report by Briefly.co.za stated that Natasha Mazzone, DA Shadow Minister of Public Enterprises, made her debut on Wednesday night, anchoring the news, part of the #AsItHappens series on eNCA. Mazzone certainly made the DA proud.
The People's Bae Mbuyiseni Ndlozi of the EFF had a great debut with the show's first episode. The ANC had a few minutes of being uncomfortable with Pule Mabe enduring some adjustment issues.
Briefly.co.za also reported that things did not go smoothly for Mabe, and the viewers' response on social media was brutal.
At first, General Holomisa started of rocky and somewhat awkward, but he showed good spirit and soon recovered.
Holomisa did get to the important matters he wanted to discuss:
However, social media had a field day and had some laughs at Holomisa's expense:
Holomisa showed he can take a joke and responded with a joke of his own:
The IFP's Liezl van der Merwe will take the hot seat on Friday night. South Africans will be watching closely for sure.
