How long would you wait for someone to prove to you they were your perfect match?

Vera Hlatshwayo, 45, showed us that it’s never too long to wait for the right guy. She and Musa Mayisela, 46, from Protea Glen, Soweto finally tied the knot on #ourperfectwedding on Sunday. This was 20 years after they met for the very first time.

Musa says they met at a funeral for the first time and he was smitten to the point where he tried to prolong this first encounter by inviting Vera and some friends out for drinks after the funeral, just so that he could get to know her.

However, Vera wasn’t really on the same page as this eager young man. She felt he led a reckless lifestyle with drinking and smoking and didn’t feel they would be a good fit as he wasn’t really what she was looking for in a husband.

Musa wasn’t quite ready to give up that easily and began his pursuit of the lady of his dreams. He didn’t let the fact that she lived in Mpumalanga, while he lived in Joburg, deter him and he started traveling to visit her whenever he could. He even admits there were times when he went to see her and left without having seen her. But he didn’t give up.

After a year, she finally agreed to date him and they went on the have three sons.

However, in 2006, their relationship ended and Musa started dating someone else. This, however, didn’t last and soon Musa returned to the love of his life.

They did try to tie the knot a few times but never managed to get it right.

Finally, 20 years and many life lessons later, these two came together on #OurPerfectWedding in a celebration they will not ever forget.
