- Edward Zuma Is Jacob Zuma’s son
- He wrote a letter to both Gordhan and Hanekom that was not taken well
- He spewed hateful sentiments regarding Gordhan’s “inferiority complexes” to his white colleagues, then went on to call Hanekom a “white Afrikaner askari.”
People seem to think they can say whatever they want to and that there will be little consequence for their actions … or words.
Even more so when they are hiding behind a letter, or lately an online post.
But people are starting to take verbal and written attacks more seriously, as Edward Zuma has found out.
The former president’s son wrote a particularly nasty letter to Pravin Gordhan and Derek Hanekom in July 2017.
In the letter he did little more than further disgrace the family name, showing the world just how low the manners in his household go.
He threw sentiments regarding Gordhan’s “inferiority complexes” to his white colleagues, then went on to call Hanekom a “white Afrikaner askari.”
In return, the South African Human Rights Commission has made clear that they view his letter as “race-based hate speech” and stated it was in violation of the constitution.
“The Commission has become aware of an open letter purported to have been authored by Mr Edward Zuma.”
“The Commission finds the contents of this letter‚ in particular statements that promote hatred on the basis of race offensive and disturbing and a clear violation of the right to freedom of expression as articulated in section 16 of the Constitution.”
Scheduled to appear in court today, little Zuma met with the Commission to discuss a final settlement figure. The Commission and both parties agreed that Edward must pay R60 000 in damages. In fact, the money he’s paying will be donated to impoverished schools in KwaZulu-Natal.
Briefly.co.za recently featured an article called "My father is innocent. This is a witch-hunt" - Edward Zuma
In the article:
- Zuma is appearing in court on Friday on 16 charges of fraud and corruption
- His son, Edward Zuma, believes his father is innocent and is the victim of a witch-hunt
- Zuma's supporters marched in solidarity and support of the former president before his appearance in the Durban High Court
Jacob Zuma's son, Edward Zuma, believes his father is innocent of the charges of fraud and corruption and is the victim of a witch-hunt.
The former president is due to appear in the Durban High Court on Friday to face 16 charges relating to 783 payments made to him before 2004.
Edward is part of the "Defenders of Radical Economic Transformation", a group that has organised a march from the Durban University of Technology's (DUT) Steve Biko campus to Albert Park where a night vigil was held on Thursday evening ahead of Zuma's court appearance.
Zuma allegedly received the payments in connection with the controversial multibillion-rand arms deal.

Christian churches in Africa are huge. So are the pastors. One pastor’s charisma and divine calling unites and educates people in the church community. Unfortunately, some shameless individuals make it extra difficult to tell apart divine miracles and deliberate deception. Be careful with who and what you believe in!
