- Dawn confirmed her status as a traditional healer in an interview this week sharing how it all came about
- She describes how the calling was very confusing and emotional because of her Christian background
- The actress sings the praises of her husband who has encouraged her to grow along this newfound path as a sangoma
Dawn is a television soap actress starring in multiple roles, Ma-Z on Lockdown and Mangcobo Lindiwe Xulu on Uzalo.
Ms King, spoke about how she was confused when she first received the calling, especially because it clashed with her existing spiritual beliefs.
"When you get the calling, you do not have a choice. You have to attend to it. It is filled with energy and you have to be assisted by other healers to help you. I went through a lot but I was helped and I realised that the gift can be channelled in several ways."
"Everyone in the entertainment industry understands that we have a calling and I have yet to meet someone who looks down on us. I think people understand that we are carrying messages through our art and they embrace that."
Dawn said she started consulting at home but being in the entertainment industry she found herself to be spread a bit too thinly while balancing her family and career but she will be revisiting her calling to practise in the future.
