- Babes Wodumo’s dad has spoken up about the alleged assault on his daughter,
- And he’s not happy with the Metro FM radio host, Masechaba Ndlovu for the way she conducted the interview
- The reverend then claimed he had no knowledge about the abuse and people should know his family does not condone any form of abuse
One would think Reverend Welcome Simelane would be furious after hearing his daughter might have been abused. But, Wodumo’s father angry with radio host, Masechaba Ndlovu, who brought up the issue during the interview with the musician.
In an official statement released on Wednesday, Wodumo’s dad slammed Ndlovu for catching his daughter off guard.
"Metro FM left us with many unanswered questions. It was clear from the interview that our daughter was not ready and was caught off guard by the presenter. We hope responses about this interview will come from those relevant‚" said Welcome.
The reverend added his family was not aware of any abuse against his daughter, neither did they know of a relationship between Wodumo and her producer Mampintsha.
Welcome then revealed his daughter would be breaking away from Mampintsha’s record label to start her own independent label, Wena Wodumo Entertainment.
“After all‚ we thank Mandla Maphumulo for discovering talent in Babes and grooming her to be where she currently is. We thank all those who supported our daughter‚ it’s truly showed how much she is loved”, he added.
As Briefly.co.za reported previously, allegations were made against Mampintsha during an interview with Babes Wodumo which alleged he assaulted her.
The ex-fiance of Wodumo has since spoken out in an interview on the same radio station, but South Africans felt Mampintsha did more damage to his name with his response.
