Excellent Baloyi’s shoe repair company, Excellent shoe repair and wash, started three years ago, and has grown into a successful business. This South African Entrepreneur has shown that hard work and determination lead to excellent results.
Baloyi, a cobbler by trade, opened his own business after working for various different companies.
He claimed his reason for going on his own was because, despite working hard, he never had anything to show for his efforts.
Young people in South Africa are being encouraged to go out on their own today because of the high unemployment rate in the country.
Not just content with opening his own small company, Baloyi even defined a strategy when he started.
He made sure his business focussed on two made shoe brands, Timberland and Carvella.
In an interview with Letaba Herald he stated that:
“The reason my business is solely focused on these two brands is that I have noticed that few people are able to take good care of these shoes specifically.”
Baloyi has two children, and says he encourages people to start their own businesses. He adds that when doing so, “people should not despise humble beginnings”.
South Africans are doing truly remarkable things and in another article by Briefly.co.za called Saving lives: Khayelitsha man delivers medication to sick people by bicycle we featured Sizwe Nzima.
Sizwe is saving lives by using his bicycle to deliver medication to chronically ill patients.
The delivery man first started off when he realised his grandparents had to travel long distances to their clinic. In addition, they had to wait in long queues once they got there.
Word soon spread and Sizwe saw an opportunity to help even more people. He subsequently started Iyeza Express as a fully fledged business, Briefly.co.za learned.
