Sophie Ndaba and Max Lichaba have now been married for more than 10 months and despite a campaign by people desperate to rain on their parade, Lichaba said they are stronger as a couple than ever before.

Entrepreneur Lichaba, is the CEO of Lichaba Creations, a jewellery company falling under his own business enterprise, the Lichaba Group.

Ndaba is a household name in South Africa, famous for acting as Queen Moroka for two decades in the television soap Generations.

The two were shy at first to share their story, but have since become braver. Lichaba opened up in a magazine interview about how he knew he was in love with Sophie from their first meeting.

Naysayers and haters, however, have been trying to shade the glowing couple’s love light.

Lichaba said some people even went so far as to try to deter him from marrying her. However, their best efforts proved no match for his feelings for his love. He said they didn’t stand a chance of getting him to not marry her.

Instead of giving in to the hate, he said he feels pity for those who are so miserable themselves they have to try to spoil other’s happiness.

"Someone even called my grandmother to tell her that my wife is bad for me, but I told my grandmother that all those people who are saying things about me live miserable lives," said the businessman.

For her part, the actress said he didn’t really pay any attention to what people think or say, because as long as they were happy, nothing else mattered.

The couple appeared together a few months ago on lifestyle show Top Billing where they told viewers how Sophie at first gave Max the run-around, but eventually gave her heart to him.

Ndaba explained how her now brother-in-laws helped played cupid. According to Ndaba, she met her hubby through his brothers. She said he asked her out a few times, but she always shot him down because she did not believe he was really single. Ndaba explained the elders in the businessman's family had to convince her to give him a chance

He, on the other hand, had also turned away many hopeful ladies all in favour of the actress who now mainly works in event planning making the two an ideal team as a power couple.
