- A toddler was hanging by one arm when a man decided to climb the building and save the child
- Mamoudou Gassama didn't think twice before risking his own life to help the child
- The 22-year-old's heroic act is being applauded on social media
When we think of Paris we think of romance, one of the most beautiful languages in the world and the Eiffel Tower. We don't think of heroes or children being in danger.
But that's exactly what made headlines in Paris this weekend. A young man risked his life this Sunday to save a toddler from certain death.
The young man, Mamoudou Gassama, is a Malian immigrant and a hero in every sense. He risked his life without thinking twice and he remains humble about his heroic deed.
Anne Hidalgo, the Paris Mayor, praised the young man's heroism after he climbed a four-storey building in Paris. For his brave effort the city will now help the man in every possible to settle in France - a fitting reward.
Congratulations to Mamoudou Gassama for his act of bravery that saved the life of a child.
The hero was cheered on by frightened and panicked onlookers as he climbed the building like in a Spiderman film.
After his heroism, Gassama was invited to meet the French President Emmanuel Macron, to be thanked and applauded in person.
When asked why he climbed the building, Gassama replied:
I did it because it was a child. I climbed... Thank God I saved him.
People shared and commented on the story on social media:
It is heart-warming to know that people like Gassama are out there doing their part for humanity without thinking about only themselves.
