- A generous and inspired well-wisher gifted him his own car
A determined teenager in Alabama, US, has been gifted his own car after a viral photo showed him trekking 16km to his high school graduation ceremony.
Corey Patrick had to walk and catch the bus to school, a journey that took 90 minutes. This is because his family doesn't have a car.
The situation was no different on his graduation day. He had the option to skip it, but he was determined to attend, Briefly.co.za learned. This time, he donned his graduation attire.
Rickey Smiley, a local radio personality, noticed Patrick's photo on social media and was inspired. He subsequently invited the teenager to his radio show and praised his determination.
Rickey went even further — he bought Patrick his own car. Rickey's generous gesture, which he shared on Instagram, has warmed the hearts many.
All Patrick has to do now is study for his driving license and pass the test. Thanks to his dedication, he and his family now have a car.
The young lad plans to study Computer Science in college.
