A church in New Mexico has gone viral after a video of a statue of the Virgin Mary was spotted crying during a Sunday mass.
Believers from all over flock to the Catholic Church located in Hobbs, New Mexico, to receive 'blessings' from the statue of Virgin Mary that was reportedly weeping during a service. The tears were flowing down from the statue's face.
According to The Edge, the statue started to weep after the church members finished reading the rosary.
The church's pastor, Father Jose Segura, stated that he didn't notice when the statue started to weep during the mass. He said: “After Mass, I was outside the front door greeting people and someone told me ‘Father, come quick, the Virgin Mary is crying. I walked inside and got closer and I asked ‘who got her wet?’ and they said, ‘No Father, she’s crying."
"That’s when I saw that she really was crying. I think it’s a reminder for all of us to get closer to God and to stop being violent and unite us. We need to be independent of the creed for our race, for our language and remember there is something more superior.”
Briefly.co.za learned Judy Ronquillo, the church manager who reportedly witnessed the incident said: “There were tears coming down her face again. It’s beautiful, the tears aren’t watery, they are an oil-like substance and the tears smell like roses.”
It was gathered that a team from a local diocese has been called in to investigate the statue to determine if the tears are heavenly.
