- An Orlando Pirates player is accused of allegedly forcing himself onto a minor
- The girl claims the player has sexually harassed her a year ago as well
- The mother of the alleged victim is asking for help from Police Minister Bheki Cele as she feels the police is protecting the accused
A member of the Orlando Pirates soccer team is facing accusations of forcing himself onto a 15-year old girl.
The police are withholding the name of the man accused because the case has not yet been proven.
According to reports by Sowetan Live, the striker is dating one of the victim's aunt's daughters. The girl was at her grandmother's house on the 30th March 2018 for lunch and spent the day there.
The mother of the victim is asking the Police Minister Bheki Cele to please intervene and remove the investigating officers from the case.
Cele was unavailable for comment on the case.
Apparently the man also offered the girl alcohol during the day, but she refused to have any.
Briefly.co.za gathered that this is not the first time that something has happened between the player and the girl.
The man had forcefully kissed the girl last year and the incident upset her so badly that she had to see a psychologist. She didn't feel up to charging the man with sexual harassment, but this time her mother could not let him get away with violating her daughter.
During the day when the incident happened, the player had asked the girl to massage his back, and despite feeling extremely uncomfortable and scared, she did as he asked.
According to the victim, later that evening the player and his girlfriend slept on a bed in the same room as the young girl. While his girlfriend was sleeping, he made his way to the bed of the young girl.
She woke up when she felt someone move on her mattress and realised it was the soccer player. He then allegedly continued to force himself onto her.
The girl gave her statement to the police, but it looks like the police is taking their sweet time to get start with the case.
According to the girl's mother, the South African police is protecting the accused and haven't arrested him yet. She also alleges that they refuse to give her any updates on the case.
Lungelo Dlamini, spokesperson for Gauteng police, has stated that there is a case and that investigations has begun.
Floyd Mbele, spokesperson for the Orlando Pirate, did not wish to comment on the allegations.
