Music artists Cassper Nyovest and Emtee a history of brawling. Their disagreements have varied over time, but their animosity remains.

In an incident in 2017, Emtee was furious when Nyovest took advantage of an unfortunate incident. In the incident, Emtee let his manhood slip out (literally) on a live Instagram feed and Nyovest couldn’t resist jumping on the bandwagon.

For a while things were volatile, but Nyovest eventually apoligised for the incident.

In an interview with TshisaLive at the time, Emtee stated that he had accepted the apology and respected Nyovest for the apology.

But the damage had been done and the two have not been known to sit around the same fire since.

But it seems their indifference to each other may be causing SA Hip Hop some damage.

In response to a Tweet stating Nyovest and Emtee need to get into a studio together, Nyovest showed he is ready to rise above the incidents of the past.

The artist replied, selflessly putting the art of Hip Hop in SA above the bickering. He stated it would be possible for them to collaborate, adding that he was aware of just how talented Emtee is.

And it seems the fans agree.

The verdict is still out on what Emtee is going to think of this recent olive branch from his former rival, but let’s hope he chooses to live by his own words. In a recent article by Briefly.co.za about the arrival of Emtee’s second child, the rapper spoke up about wanting to be a dad that leads by example. In an interview with Drum at the time, Emtee stated that

"... I am a parent and a breadwinner ... I need to lead by example".

Only time will tell if this proud papa, and talented artist, is ready to lead by example in this instance and bury the hatchet to join Nyovest in studio… for the good of SA Hip Hop.
