The world’s number one ranked Test match bowler has hailed Lungi Ngidi as a great talent and said he looked forward to building a legendary bowling partnership with the youngster.

Ngidi had a dream start to his international cricket career with memorable performances against India, Australia and a wonderful display in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Rabada said he had known Ngidi since school level and knew even then that he had the potential to become one of the greats of the game.

Briefly.co.za gathered that Rabada himself had a stellar season in which he proved why he is the premier fast bowler in the world. His performances with the ball helped the Proteas record famous series wins against India and Australia.

Sacricketmag.com reported that Rabada was full of praise for how Ngidi rose to the challenge of international competition. Rabada said Ngidi was not only talented but was bright and learned quickly.

Rabada said Ngidi’s ability to adapt and learn was probably his major strength has a bowler.

He added: “I’m excited to see how he’s going to accept the challenge that he will be faced with.”

Rabada was named South African male cricket of the year at the Cricket South Africa (CSA) Awards. He won six awards at the ceremony, only the second time a player has won six awards.

Rabada said he really enjoyed the season and noted the series against Australia as the highlight of his year.

He was forced to miss the IPL due to a back injury, but admitted that he enjoyed being at home and doing nothing but relaxing and eating too much.

Rabada said the rest was welcome, but he had already started training again.
