- Gamelihle Dlungwane was not going to let anything stand in the way of him tying the knot to the love of his life, Sindiswa Khuzwayo, not even death
- Dlungwane threw his deceased fiancee her dream wedding after she suddenly passed away
- The groom said he only proposed after she got sick and felt she needed to have her big day to find peace
The 63-year-old man finally married the mother of his three children in a ceremony at Gunjini village, KwaZulu-Natal.
However, The Sowetan reported the bride was already dead at the time of their nuptials- she passed away a week before as a result of diabetic complications.
Briefly.co.za learned the groom felt he wanted to honour her dream of a wedding after her sudden death, adding he already gave her a ring and veil prior to her passing.
"She had dreamed about her wedding day for years. Before she died, she had asked for a wedding ring and for a veil to wear with her traditional outfit. I gave her those two things, so I think she's at peace," Dlungwane said.
The couple had been together for over 20-years, during which they had three children and three grandchildren. However, they lost two of their children.
As for her family's reaction to the post-death wedding, her younger sister, Ntokozo Khuzwayo, said it was what everyone needed to cope with her sudden passing.
"We had all been really down when she died but what my brother-in-law did for my sister lifted our family's spirits and I know my sister is happy about this.", she said.
