Champions League winners, Real Madrid are reportedly set to face the wrath of Cristiano Ronaldo’s huge €40m (R600 million) yearly salary demands after the Portugal international cast doubt on his future at the Santiago Benarbeu after lifting the Champions League.

Ronaldo despite claiming four European trophies in five campaigns at the Los Blancos still earns a lower salary when compared with the likes of Lionel Messi and Neymar. A situation that has left the former Manchester United place disgruntled.

Ronaldo who is currently in camp with Portugal ahead of the 2018 Fifa World Cup did not hide his feelings moments after the Galaticos 3-1 win over Liverpool in Kiev as he spoke over a possible move away from the La Liga side, saying, "it's been very nice playing for Real Madrid."

According to the Mirror report citing sources at Sport suggest the reason behind Ronaldo’s recent comment has to do with financial issues, as the current World’s Best Player strongly believes a salary tag of €40m (R600 million) per year will not be too much to ask for.

However, the Los Blancos are not prepared to give in, insisting that their prized jewel is currently worth €30m (R450 million) per annum, after a €7m (R10.5 million) increase on his present annual salary of €23m (R345 million).

The Portugal captain is expected to face the media in the coming days as the Selecao’s continue final preparations ahead of their final pre-World Cup friendly against Algeria’s Desert Foxes on Thursday.

Immediately after the 3-1 victory over Liverpool in the Champions League final, the 33-year-old plunged his future into doubt by saying: "It's been very nice playing for Real Madrid." Ronaldo's comments came as a huge shock to football fans across the world and are understood to have infuriated the club's hierarchy.
