ANC struggle survivor Andrew Mlangeni celebrated his 93rd birthday on Wednesday and it was a happy event spent with family and comrades.
Mlangeni had his audience in Sandton, Johannesburg in stitches when he told them the secret to his youthful attitude and appearance.
According to Mlangeni, if you want to age with dignity, the secret is in having a healthy and active love life. Three times spent together a week is his recipe for staying youthful.
Mlangeni stated that thanks to his age he can get away with saying just what he wanted - as long as he didn't offend or insult anyone.
The veteran went on to say that when he married his wife, the two of them agreed that three 'romantic nights' a week would be sufficient. He suggests that everyone do this to age slower.
He said they strictly stuck to that practice, but occasionally they would go beyond that number.
The people really enjoyed Mlangeni's speech and were giggling at his remarks.
Mlangeni spent 27 years on Robben Island following the Rivonia trial in the 1960s. He is a loyal and trusted ANC veteran loved by many.
