Rap superstar Cassper Nyovest has revealed that scammers hacked his cellphone and are using it to extort money from his friends and fans via WhatsApp.
Cassper confirmed this development on Twitter on Wednesday after hip hop artist L-Tido asked him about it, Briefly.co.za learned.
L-Tido revealed that someone was sending him messages purporting to be Cassper. However, he got suspicious because the messages didn't sound like they came from him.
Standup comic Nina Hastie also revealed that she got a "send me money" WhatsApp message from Cassper's number a while back.
Cassper subsequently confirmed that he's no longer using that number.
The rapper's fans reacted to the revelation, with some offering suggestions on how to address it. See some of their reactions below.
