Tweeps react to Yobe 'slay queen' behind bars: She should not apologise

For the first time since Yobe aired, South Africans sided with the convict, because they felt sorry for the woman, who had been convicted of murder.

On Tuesday’s episode of the hit TV series, Yobe, viewers were introduced to a mother who had been locked up after she killed her boyfriend in self-defense.

Mahlatse shot her then partner, Ronnie, to protect herself. According to a report by Times LIVE, she had been abused throughout the relationship and that faithful night, only one of them would have made it out.

Mahlatse shot Ronnie with his own gun, which he bought with the intent to threaten her.

However, despite acting in self-defense, Mahlatse is still upset about the incident that led her to take someone else’s life.

In a clip shared by Mzansi Magic on Twitter, the convict breaks down after recalling the day that changed her life forever.

The show follows convicted criminals ask forgiveness, however Mahlatse’s story touched the hearts of Yobe fans, who felt she should not be apologizing to Ronnie’s family. learned his mother knew about his abusive ways, yet she did nothing to help her son’s victim.

A lot of social media users decided to focus more on Mahlatse’s looks behind bars than her story, dubbing her a slay queen.
