- Nontobeko Mbuyazi was born with albinism
- She experienced cyberbullying and is standing up to it
- She became a model to spread awareness about her condition
A beautiful young student with albinism is bravely standing up to cyberbullies who often target people living with her condition.
Nontobeko Mbuyazi was taken aback at the amount of hateful comments she received on social media when she first started sharing her photos, Briefly.co.za learned.
Speaking to Beautiful News, the 21-year-old brave lady from KwaZulu-Natal said these comments affected her self-esteem at first.
Fortunately, there were many more social media users who often came to her defence and appreciated her beauty.
Nontobeko subsequently realised that lack of awareness is the main reason albinism is misunderstood. She therefore decided to do something about it:
I've had to learn self-love because of cyberbullies. I became a model because I wanted to spread awareness about albinism.
I just want to stand up for those that are being bullied on social media and in general. What makes you different, makes you beautiful. You don’t need anyone else’s approval to be happy.
She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminology and Politics at the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
Nontobeko regularly shares her stunning photos on Instagram, where she has a huge following of over 7,000 fans.
