Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed that five players would be leaving the club in the pre-season ahead of the 2018/19 Premier Soccer League (PSL) season. The player exodus was widely expected.

Kaizer Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung explained the club’s decision to allow the players to leave. He said while all of those leaving were talented and potentially brilliant players, they had failed to find their form while playing for Kaizer Chiefs and he noted the club was not in the habit of keeping good players out of the game.

William Twala, Keagan Buchanan, Edmore Chirambadare, Sibusiso Khumalo and Tsepo Masilela have been released while Emmanuel Letlolo will be loaned out in order for him to gain valuable game time and experience.

Briefly.co.za gathered that Kaizer Chiefs have yet to appoint a new head coach ahead of the new PSL season and have yet to announce any new signings or marquee appointments.

KickOff.co.za reported that Motaung confirmed that Letlolo would be loaned out for one season his destination is currently unknown. Motaung said the aim of the loan deal was for Letlolo to gain PSL experience.

Motaung confirmed that Kaizer Chiefs would be ending its contracts with Twala, Buchanan, Khumalo and Chirambadare. He added that the club had decided not to renew its contract with Masilela.

Masilela spent the last six years with Kaizer Chiefs, but has fallen out of favour with the coaching staff in recent times.

He is expected to pursue various opportunities in America.

Buchanan, Chirambadare and Khumalo have only spent two years at the club, Twala spent much of last year on a loan deal in Pietermaritzburg.
