- A beautiful 3-month-old baby girl was found in a footpath in Greenbushes, Port Elizabeth
- It is not yet certain whether the child was wilfully abandoned or something happened to the parents
- The little girl is unharmed and will be taken care of at the Dora Nginza hospital until her family is located
A baby girl was found lying in a footpath in Port Elizabeth on Friday morning.
She was apparently left there sometime during the night or early hours of the morning. The baby was cold and damp when found by a man walking by. The girl's feeding bottle and a bag were lying nearby.
An unidentified man was walking in a footpath on Draaifontein Road in Greenbushes when he stumbled upon the infant.
The man took the cold little girl to the Salvation Army. They took the girl to the Kabega Park police station, who took her into their loving arms.
The Kabega Park police officers nurtured the baby until taking her to the Dora Nginza hospital. They changed her into warm, dry clothes and fed her.
The police are asking the South African public with any information on the mother or family to please contact the Kabega Park police station on 041 3946802.
It is not known whether something happened to the mother abandoned or if the girl was simply abandoned.
