- Tendai ‘The Beast’ Mtawarira holds the key to his own legacy in his hands
- If Mtawarira remains at his current level into the 2020 season he is likely to become the most decorate Springbok of all time
- The Beast will play his 100th Test match against England on Saturday
Tendai ‘The Beast’ Mtawarira will be playing in his 100th Test match when he takes the field against England in Bloemfontein on Saturday. The prop forward becomes the sixth Springbok to reach the incredible milestone.
Mtawarira largely holds the key to his own legacy in his own hands, if he continues to make himself available and continues playing at his current level he could very well become the most decorated Springbok of all time.
If Mtawarira continues playing into the 2020 season he is likely to surpass Victor Matfield’s tally of 127 appearances for the Springboks.
Briefly.co.za gathered that Mtawarira also stands an outside chance of becoming the most capped international prop of all time. The record is currently held by Gareth Jenkins at 134 appearances.
Sport24.co.za reported that Mtawarira should, barring injury, reach 110 Test caps by the end of the 2018 season.
Mtawarira has over the years remained remarkably injury-free, this linked with his talents should ensure that he comes very close to the record.
