Motherhood is beckoning for popular actress Jessica Nkosi, who has announced that she's expecting a baby.

The Isibaya star made the surprise announcement in a post on Twitter and Instagram, Briefly.co.za learned.

She accompanied it with a photo of herself on the cover of July's edition of True Love magazine, where her baby bump is apparent.

Jessica apologised to her fans for keeping them in the dark about her pregnancy over the past several months.

She also referred to her expectancy as "blessings that God has gifted me with."

In a longer post on Instagram, Jessica suggested that she's been going through a difficult patch, hence her silence:

I’ve been going through a few things and decided to take a little break and get alright but I’m much better now.

The actress also thanked her fans for their support:

I feel chosen and blessed beyond compare. I have to thank you for your continued love and support and care most of all. I LOVE YOU GUYS. And Ngiyabonga.
