A South African man has come under fire on Twitter for throwing shade at men who are unable to buy gifts for their girlfriends.

The man, who calls himself Deezy Stark, posted a photo of himself and his friends apparently laughing at a joke, Briefly.co.za learned.

He accompanied it with a caption asking why ladies are dating men who don't give them gifts or money to spend.

Deezy probably thought he's standing up for ladies or encouraging them to expect more from their partners.

However, both male and female tweeps came down hard on him for seemingly looking down on men who can't afford to buy gifts. See their reactions below.

"He didn't sign a contract to take care of you."

"My boyfriend is broke, but I still love him."

"Men show love differently."

One lady asked Deezy to enjoy his money without looking down on others.

Deezy, who describes himself as an investment banker, seems to be a big spender on his girlfriend.

In a recent post, he shared a photo of gifts he bought her after she had a "really bad day."
