Somizi Mhlongo has taken to social media to show support to people living with albinism.
South African media personality Somizi has voiced his opinion on the treatment of people living with albinism.
“No to killing of people living with albinism”, he captioned a post on Twitter, adding on another social media platform, “We are all black. We are all human. We are just different shades of black. NO TO KILLING OF PEOPLE LIVING WITH ALBINISM”.
The 45-year-old’s post received praise from fellow social media users, as well as people who agreed with him on the treatment of people living with the disorder.
“Yebo guy it must stop really, fact is youre not gonna be rich through killing albino's. These people didn't chose to have the skin pigment they have. Hay mara they're beautiful”, one tweep commented.
Somizi’s posts followed only days after the International Albinism Awareness Day last week. As Briefly.co.za reported previously, Michelle Mosalakae took to her social media account to share an inspiring message in honour of the Albinism Awareness Day, which took place on Wednesday, 13 June.
The annual Albinism Awareness Day was instituted by the United Nations in 2013 to raise awareness of albinism, as well as to prevent attacks and stop discrimination against people living with the disorder.
