Political analyst Somadoda Fikeni has expressed pride in being a product of Walter Sisulu University (WSU).

Writing on Twitter, he said his current success began at WSU before US and Canadian universities claimed him as their own.

However, he expressed sadness at the current state of affairs at WSU and other historically black universities.

Lecturers at WSU recently went on strike over wage demands, Briefly.co.za learned. According to EWN, this has left students in limbo.

Earlier in March, News24 reported that students went on a violent protest over a shortage of accommodation. This compelled the institution to close a number of campuses.
