News24 reported Emmerson Mnangagwa made a stop at the fast food outlet over the weekend to buy a two-piecer and a minute maid. According to the report, he even tipped the cashier who served him.

Different Zimbabwean news sites posted the picture of Mnangagwa's fast food stop on social media, but many of the Southern African country's citizens felt it was not something newsworthy.

Povo News posted the pic along with the caption, "Emmerson Mnangagwa buying a 2 piece at Chegutu Chicken Inn - 17 June 2018. #ZimElections2018 #Mnangagwa #ZimCampaign2018 #EmmersonMnangagwa"

The post sparked a discussion on Twitter, with Zimbabweans not being sold on his 'ordinary man' act.

"Theatrics idzi hadzishandi. The other day the wife was buying tomatoes blah blah. Wanyangira yaona. We see through all that drama and know that you are cruel and far from the ordinary people who cant access $5 bond from banks to buy tomatoes", one tweep wrote.
