Indeed, success comes from hard work and determination. This is reflected in the life of a Nigerian man simply identified as Victor whose inspirational story has since gone viral on the internet. Despite the curve ball life threw at him, he overcame the challenges.

Victor revealed that he could not afford to go to the university to pursue his dreams of becoming an engineer due to lack of funds. He further stated that although he was disappointed when his father took him to learn the trade of furniture making, he decide to be focused and make something out of the situation.

He had this to say,"Back then in secondary school, I was very good at science and technical subjects. I was the leader of my school Jet-club team.Every term, we would usually construct a machine( sometimes cars, fan, electric circuit, grinding mill etc).

I had this dream that someday I would go to the university and I would graduate to be a very big and certified engineer, but that dream never came through due to lack of funds. My parents had no money to send me to the university. Many of my classmates got admitted into the higher institution while I was still at home. I felt so depressed.

One day my father took me to a workshop without even telling me where we were going to. On our arrival he told the man; ‘this is Victor, my son, the one I told you about. He is talented and always ready to learn’. At first, I felt disappointed but after pondering over the words,I was motivated and I gave up the thought of going to the university and channeled all my energy in my new handiwork.

I learnt the work within the space of 9 months. My master threw a send-off party for me. He said I could stay with him in his workshop until I was comfortable enough to establish my own workshop and stand on my own. It was an opportunity he had never given to anyone. I didn’t hesitate to grab the offer.

This is the fourth year of being on my own since I left my master. Most of my classmates back then in secondary school that are graduates have been calling me to place order and also recommending me to some clients. Last year, I exported one of my set of cushions to Ethiopia courtesy of my classmate.

Although I never went to a higher institution, my old friends still believe so much in me and we are all doing well in life. I am living in my own house that I built with my parents and siblings. I am also training my younger ones in higher institutions. Gradually, my dreams are becoming a reality ”

What an isperation. A truly amazing story.
