A young student who is experiencing domestic violence appealed to well-wishers to help settle her outstanding college fees.
Alvinah Smangele said she enrolled for journalism studies as a way to escape her domestic violence, Briefly.co.za learned.
Writing on Twitter, she said she needs R25,000 before Friday, 22 June to complete her final year. Failure to pay this amount would mean losing her position at the media school.
In subsequent tweets, Alvinah explained that the qualification is her only hope. Therefore, she doesn't want her abuser to get the satisfaction of seeing her drop out.
The determined lady tagged various media personalities in her tweets, including Redi Tlhabi, Mzilikazi wa Afrika, Cathy Mohlahlana, and Chriselda Lewis.
Alvinah also shared photos showing her facial injuries as a result of her experience.

It's unclear how much Alvinah has raised so far. However, her determination to complete he studies and become independent from her abuser is commendable.
