A small act of kindness changed a homeless man's life forever

Peter Greenwall and Toni Venter met a man on the Broken Bath Beach in Cape Town, they saw something in the man's eyes, pride, and offered to help him.

They asked him how he came to live on the beach and the man told them his story.

His name is Johannes and he and his friend were promised a job on a wine farm but when they travelled to the vineyard they were told only one of them would get work.

Unfortunately for Johannes this left him on the street with no way to support himself or to get back home.

Peter and Toni offered to pay for his stay at one of the many homeless shelters in the city and to help him develop his CV in the hopes of getting work.

Peter shot a video and posted it online where it received a lot of attention and one of the viewers, Shelley Finch, offered to help.

“He’s off the beach, into a shelter and tmrw (sic) he starts working for Quinz Quality Caretakers & Maintainance thanks to Essie Pessie who saw the video I posted yesterday and offered him a job. Maybe this can be a thing” – Shelley Finch
