- A popular strawberry farmer from Stellenbosch was murdered on his farm this weekend
- The incident took place when Jeffrey Zetler was about to drive his workers home
- Four men approached them and forced the farmer to take them to his office
The Stellenbosch community was left in shock when they learned that one of their beloved farmers was murdered during a robbery on his wife Beverley's 59th birthday.
The owner of the very popular Mooiberge Strawberry Farm Stall, Jeffrey Zetler, was stabbed to death on Saturday after 4 men robbed him.
The South African reported that the men showed up when Jeffrey was going to give some of his workers a ride home after he paid their wages. One man was armed with a gun and another had a knife.
They ordered the workers off the vehicle and told Jeffrey to take them to his office and open his safe. Jeffrey was known to be a successful farmer and that his strawberry farms produced more than half of the market share of strawberries.
Briefly.co.za learned that ER24 confirmed that they responded to a scene where a 62-year-old man passed away because of stab wounds.
Jeffrey's wife is receiving counselling and the family got together to support her and her daughters.
