South Africa has some of the richest people in Africa — and they are not shy to spend money lavishly on their homes.
SABC3's lifestyle show, Top Billing, has featured several of such homes. Some of them are owned by celebrities such as media personality Bonang Matheba and rugby star Tendai Mtawawira.
Briefly.co.za compiles videos of five of these spectacular mansions that showcase the highest levels of luxury.
1. Bonang Matheba's exquisite home.
Bonang's designer abode in a quiet country estate is the stuff of dreams. The understated but luxurious interior of her home is designed to help her unwind from her hectic public life.
2. Rugby superstar Tendai Mtawawira's mansion with views.
Tendai recently marked an amazing 100 Tests for the Springboks. When he's not muscling his way through the rugby field, he unwinds at his luxurious home just outside Durban.
The triple-storey home has plenty of sea and serene views around it. It's also airy and just perfect for the coastal humid weather.
3. The best of both worlds.
Sometimes, location dilemmas force homeowners to choose between sea views and mountain views.
However, this stunning beachfront home in Cape Town offers both. It is grand yet minimalist at the same time, offering comfort and the feeling of being on top of the world.
4. A timeless epic.
Architectural imagination can send homeowners into life's dizzying heights — and this Cape Town home is proof of that.
Built for entertainment and 360 degrees views along the Atlantic seaboard, this mansion is the epitome of living large.
5. Douw Steyn piece of heaven on earth.
Of all the home featured on Top Billing, insurance guru Douw Steyn's "Palazzo Steyn" probably emerges tops. According to sapeople.com, it's the most expensive home in South Africa.
The massive villa is set upon 3,000 square metres of prime land in Fourways, Johannesburg. Despite its sheer grandeur, it still retains that distinct homely feel.
