Khanya Mkangisa is by far one of South Africa's most well-known faces. The beautiful actress has worked her way up and is killing it, but it has not always been easy.
Recently the beatu opened up in an interview with Move!. She expressed the struggles on her long journy to where she is today.
From YO.TV to Isidingo, the road has not been so smooth. Khanya has always pushed through the hard times and that is how she gotten to where she is today, reported ZAlebs.
Here are four of the main points that came up in her interview:
1. She was judged by her appearance
When Khaya first entered into the industry, a producer told her that she could not really act just from her appearance. She said that everyone saw her as the ‘YO.TV girl’ and it took a lot to break that label.
2. The inconsistent highs and lows
Even though she got her break at the ripe age of 13, Khaya had many times where opportunities were scares and where she just could not get a break.
She says that no matter the hard times, she has never wanted to give up and believes that, that is how she made it through, with her undying passion for what she does.
3. Finding TRUE friends, family and love
Being a star comes with a lot of empty friends, family and significant others who just want a piece of your fame. She has had to learn how to tell what is true and what is not.
Briefly.co.za learnt that Khanya is not one to talk about her deep emotions, but she did say that if Mr Right came a long, she won’t hesitate. She also said that she will not say if she is or is not in a relationship, as she feels the big reveal just ruins things.
4. The struggle to keep motivated
Khanya has faced a lot of battles and the need to keep motivated has been tough. However, she found that balance and learnt that staying motivated, is what will make her a success.
On the other side of her acting career, Khaya has used her lessons to help others. She is a presenter on YFM and helps to motivate others to achieve their goals.
Growing up, Khanyi Dhlomo (business woman) was her idol and inspiration. Now, Khanya believes in self-motivation. She says that achieving her goals and making herself and her mom proud, is what keeps her going.
