The Citizen reported that e-mails exist that indicates that Habib instructed Wits University employees to find funding for a student. It is not considered a coincidence that the student is the son of Habib's friend.

Khaya Sithole, a former employee of the university who is facing a disciplinary hearing, claims that he followed instructions given to him by superiors. Sithole managed the project that funded students. He stands accused of approving bursary funds irregularly.

According to Sithole, he was told by superiors how to process the funds. His superiors were the CEO of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants and Habib.

Apparently, the student in question approached Habib about not receiving feedback from the university.

Habib then sent this e-mail to his deputy, Tawana Kupe, and a fellow professor, Associate Professor Nirupa Padia, asking them to help the student.

See e-mail below, I think I know him as one of the students in Irfan’s class. But my attention was drawn to the fact that he had distinctions in Maths and accounting. I am not sure what he is doing. Anyway, we can help? How about Thutuka if he is doing accounting … What do you think?
