Super Eagles technical adviser Gernot Rohr turns a year older on Thursday, June 28 - two days after his team crashed out of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

He became the coach of the Nigeria national team in late 2016 after taking over from Sunday Oliseh, and went ahead to qualify the team for this year's tournament.

However, the three time African champions were unable to progress from the group stage - after losing to both Croatia and Argentina in their Group D encounters.

The staff at the Essentuki Team Base Camp, Russia have however celebrated the Franco-German tactician on his big day, as they offer him a cake and bouquet of flowers.

They baked him a field-like cake with a ball on it as they gather round him to take pictures with glasses of wine.

NAIJ.com earlier reported that the coach wanted to remain in charge of the Super Eagles after failing to lead them beyond the group stage of Russia 2018.

Nigeria were bundled out of the World Cup after losing their last Group D game against Argentina in which a draw would have secured qualification to the round of 16.

Rohr who had revealed before that his players will be ready for the next World Cup has now stated that he wants to stay.
