Fame may be the spur that drives a lot of celebrities and popular personalities to success, but it comes with a lot of scrutiny and negativity. Local YouTuber, Lasizwe learnt this the hard way when he was recently dragged for being a copycat and has finally responded to the accusations.
Twitter streets were a mess last week when local YouTube sensation Thulasizwe 'Lasizwe' Dambuza was accused by American former Vine star Jay Versace for stealing content. This came after Lasizwe posted a video on Twitter with similarities to that of Jay’s. The clip was picked up by one of Jay’s followers and alerted him to it, which prompted the Vine star to put him on blast saying LaSizwe copies everything he does.
After denying the allegations during the brief twar session, the local YouTube star who is also younger brother to Khanyi Mbau, has finally opened up with a response. Speaking to Tshisa Live, Lasizwe said, “I take inspiration from a lot of people and everyday life. I use my interactions with them as a way to vlog and entertain. In doing my videos, my aim is to entertain and not step on anyone’s toes and hope this will come across in my videos.” He also insisted that regardless of having international followers, he will always remain true to himself and be authentically South African.
Briefly.co.za has also discovered that this is not the first time that the entertainer was accused of stealing content. Former model and actor Earl Hendricks previously slammed him for copying one of his videos.
