- Kaizer Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung says the clubs new signing Andriamirado Andrianarimanana was a free agent
- Fosa Juniors have disputed the transfer of its star player
- Andrianarimanana was not available to join his new teammates for pre-season training and medical assessments on Monday
Kaizer Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung has responded to claims about the clubs new signing Andriamirado Andrianarimanana. Motaung says the player was a free agent when he put pen to paper to join the PSL giants.
This comes after Andrianarimanana’s former club Fosa Juniors released a statement on Wednesday in which it disputes the transfer. According to Fosa Juniors, the transfer took place while Andrianarimanana was still under contract and crucially no-one from Kaizer Chiefs contacted Fosa officials about the move.
Andrianarimanana who is better known as Dax to his fans was announced as one of three new Kaizer Chiefs players last Friday. He is expected to play an integral part in strengthening the playing squad at the Naturena.
Briefly.co.za gathered that Andrianarimanana impressed scouts, coaches and soccer fans when he played for Madagascar in the recent COSAFA Cup which took place in Polokwane.
The matter looks set to head for an ugly contract dispute between the two clubs. Andrianarimanana was expected to join other Kaizer Chiefs players as they started pre-season training and medical assessments on Monday but he was not among the squad.
Goal.com reported that the possible dispute seems the most likely cause for Andrianarimanana’s no-show on Monday. Kaizer Chiefs will be looking to clarify the matter as soon as possible so as to allow Andrianarimanana to take part in the Shell Helix Ultra Cup which takes place on 21 July.
The match will see Chiefs take on a new-look Mamelodi Sundowns side at the FNB Stadium.
Meanwhile, Motaung released a statement in which he reassured Amakhosi fans that the signing was above board and had been conducted in good faith.
Motaung said if Fosa Juniors had an issue with the transaction they knew which processes to follow.
“The transaction was done properly and above board and if they have a problem they know the procedures to follow,” Motaung said.
Motaung maintained that Andrianarimanana was a free agent when the club contacted him and was not contracted to any side at the time of his signing.
