A 34-year-old man allegedly robbed a store in Danielskuil, Northern Cape, using curry powder — but then didn't have a getaway plan.
Briefly.co.za learned that the man, whose identity has been withheld, pretended to be a shopper in the store recently. However, he reportedly threw curry powder in the shop owner's face.
As the shop owner tried to remove the burning powder from his eyes, the alleged thief took cash from the till before getting away.
According to Daily Sun, the suspect then went to a nearby hiking spot in the hope of catching a lift away from the scene.
However, the shop owner alerted the police and gave them a description of the man. A few hours later, police arrested him at the hiking spot while he was still waiting to catch a lift.
According to a police spokesman, Captain Sergio Kock, the young man now faces charges of robbery. Police will arraign him in a court of law as soon as possible.
Recently, Briefly.co.za reported on another case of funny robbery. This time, the alleged phone thief was caught after changing his WhatsApp profile picture on the stolen phone.
