On Sunday news broke of the death of Vusi Zuma, the son of former South African president Jacob Zuma.
According to reports, Vusi died following a short illness, yet the cause of death remains a mystery. So, while the country mourns the loss of a young life, Briefly.co.za decided to gather a few facts about who he was.

1. Who was Vusi Zuma?
Vusi was the youngest of five children whom Jacob Zuma had with his late wife, Kate Mantsho. Some of his famous siblings include twins Duduzane and Duduzile Zuma.
According to reports, Vusi was born in 1993, making him only 25-years old at the time of his death.
2. The controversial death of his mother
Kate Mantsho took her own life in 2000 when her kids were still very young. However, TimesLIVE reported Duduzile said she was not angry with her mom's decision, nor did she or any of her siblings accept blame for what Mantsho did.
“I didn’t resent my mother for taking her own life because I was old enough to understand that maybe there were issues in her life that we‚ as children‚ didn’t understand. We also didn’t blame ourselves‚ because it was not about us", she said.
3. A close bond with his siblings
Briefly.co.za learned Vusi and his other siblings grew very close following the death of their mother.
In an interview by the South African Depression and Anxiety Group‚ Duduzile said she and her siblings grew close after their mom's suicide, and they helped each other through difficult times.
4. Vusi's lifestyle
Unlike his brother Duduzane, Vusi stays out of trouble and the spotlight.Despite having a rich and powerful father, Vusi did not live a flashy lifestyle nor did he share any information of himself on social media.
