The DA took to social media to share with South Africans the property of the ANC Chief Whip, which he reportedly bought with R7.2 million.

Mmusi Maimane's party has since demanded he pay the full amount back since they believe it was purchased with the help of companies and individuals who were benefiting from corruption in the health department, The Citizen reported.

"R7.2 Million on this?! What a waste! Today, we are outside Gauteng's own Nkandla, ANC Gauteng Chief Whip Brian Hlongwa's unoccupied & unfinished house. #HlongwaMustGo", Mmusi Maimane's party captioned the post on its official Twitter page.

The posts sparked a debate on Twitter between South Africans, who discussed several issues, one being why people still kept voting for the ANC despite of the high corruption in the party.

"Well have you ever had that with money that you stole or never worked hard for you always use it in a way others will be shocked when they see what you have used to buy this is a good example", @Zamie8909 commented.

Briefly.co.za reported previously Brian Hlongwa is implicated in a probe by the Special Investigating Unit (SIU).

The unit investigated the Gauteng Health Department and the report was made public on Thursday, 21 June. The investigation took the SIU 7 years to complete. While the investigation was ongoing, the corruption was ongoing.
