- Marius Du Preez and his fiancé Hannetjie wanted to tie the knot but they did not have money for a wedding ceremony
- So, Heleen Van Zyl and her family and neighbours worked together to make the couple’s dream wedding a reality
A woman helped two car guards get the wedding of their dreams after she found out they were engaged.
Heleen Van Zyl found out the two car guards, who looked after her vehicle on a daily basis, were set to tie the knot.
However, according to Marius Du Preez, he and his fiancé, Hannetjie, would say I do in a court room because they did not have enough money to have a proper wedding ceremony.
Du Preez told Van Zyl, an interior decorator, that he wanted to get married in a church in front of their friends and family. He added he wanted to make the day special for his bride.
Their story touched Van Zyl heart and she decided to help them out.
With the help of her neighbors and family, Van Zyl managed to organize an unforgettable wedding. Her brother in law, Jaco van der Berg, is a pastor and he agreed to marry the couple.
Van der Berg’s wife jumped in and helped with Hannetjie’s bouquet and Van Zyl took it upon herself to find the perfect attire for the bride.
“I told Marius he did not have to worry, I will make sure his bride looked beautiful on her wedding day. I bought her a dress, underwear, perfume and jewellery”, Van Zyl recalled.
Maroela Media reported Van Zyl’s daughter in law owns a salon, and she and her colleague made sure Hannetjie’s hair, nails and make-up were perfect for her big day.
Brielfy.co.za learned Van Zyl then teamed up with her neighbours, Willie Opperman and his wife Hannetjie and Rina Davis, to glam up the couple’s room for their wedding night.
Following their wedding, the newly weds celebrated with a few of their friends, and the owner of the property they rented made sure there was cake and other snacks.
According to Van Zyl, the couple appreciated their kindness and Du Preez said he and his wife slept warm with their new duvet.
“Hannetjie burst in tears when she saw herself on the photos. She could not believe it was her”, Van Zyl recalled.
