- A recent episode of Date My Family had a bachelor, who lives with albinism, win over tweeps
- Boitumelo Mainganya’s confidence impressed tweeps, who took to social media to praise him
- However, despite winning over Black Twitter, the stylish bachelor left the show empty handed
Normally Black Twitter would drag the contestants on the dating show, but Boitumelo Mainganya captivated fans of the hit Mzansi show.
Mainganya, who lives with albinism, was surprised that DMF fans did not roast him on social media, he added instead they were taken back by his confidence- which is something he does not quite understand.
“I don't know why people assume that because I am living with albinism, I would not be confident. After all, it is just a condition, it doesn't change the man I am”, he said.
The Sowetan reported Mainganya said by just being how he is, he breaks stereotypes and myths surrounding the condition on a daily basis.
He added being on DMF was an opportunity to show others that albinism does not define a person.
However, Mainganya did add those living with albinism face dangers on almost a daily basis and people needed to be educated.
“We can't not ignore the fact that people living with albinism are going through a tough time because of all these killings. They are being killed because people don't understand and they need to be educated”, the poet reiterated.
As Briefly.co.za reported previously, several organisations joined forces in a march on Saturday to protest the killing and abuse of people living with albinism.
Tshwantsho Tshabalala was among those to join the protest action and he wanted to set the record straight on some of the myths surrounding people living with albinism.
