- The Zuma family shared the cause of death of Vusi Zuma after South Africans have been wondering for days
- Complications of lupus are said to have been the reason for the young man's sudden death
Former president Jacob Zuma and his family have been in mourning since 1 July, when their son Nhlakanipho Vusi Zuma passed away suddenly.
The family released a statement on the cause of death: complications of systemic lupus erythematosus‚ better known as lupus.
South Africans have been wondering what exactly happened to the 25-year-old young man since the news of his death.
Lupus is an autoimmune disease that occurs when the immune system mistakenly attacks the body because it confuses it for something foreign.
Briefly.co.za reported earlier that late on Sunday evening, South Africans learned that former president Jacob Zuma's son passed away at the Milpark Hospital in Joburg.
Vusi will be laid to rest in Westpark Cemetery in Johannesburg. The Rhema Recreational Centre in Randburg will hold the service on Saturday morning.
South Africans took a moment to forget about corruption and personal feelings and sent their condolences to the former president.
Briefly.co.za reported that many people reached out to the Zuma family on social media - from the current president to ordinary citizens.
